Sustainability & fairness at sui.

On my way to the first collection, I had to answer many questions about sustainability. Not only from other people, but above all questions that I asked myself.

What does it actually mean when a piece of clothing is sustainable? Can you really calculate exactly how many CO2 emissions a piece of clothing causes? How transparent are the paths of the raw material to the fabric production? And then there is the big term "greenwashing".

I value transparency. That's why I want to openly show you my thoughts and decisions. What is sustainable about sui. polewear and what isn't (yet)?

In developing our label, we have dealt intensively with the topic of sustainability. What does it actually mean for a garment to be sustainable? And how transparent are the individual steps from raw material to finished fabric?

Implementing sustainable decisions seems to be particularly difficult in the production of sportswear. The properties that sportswear should have can only be combined with renewable materials to a limited extent.

So far, we have made the following decisions in favor of sustainability:

Our Polewear is made from high-quality materials with regenerated nylon, which is obtained from recycled resources such as old fishing nets, carpets, and fabric remnants. This material is considered particularly environmentally friendly and combines performance with the responsible use of existing resources.

We also choose the more sustainable alternative wherever possible for all other components such as elastic bands, fasteners, labels, and packaging. However, as a small company, we still face challenges in some areas, such as very high minimum order quantities or currently unaffordable purchase prices. As we grow and our financial resources expand, we will continue to pursue this path and steadily increase the proportion of sustainable solutions.

We have deliberately chosen a pragmatic approach for our cups: the cover is made of sustainable material, but there is currently no completely sustainable alternative for the inner foam. At the same time, we want to offer this option to customers who prefer tops with cups.

For us, sustainability also means using products in a way that meets our needs. Nothing is less sustainable than clothing that lies unworn in the closet or ends up directly in the trash. That's why our tops are sold without cups as standard. They can be ordered separately if required, so that only what is actually used is shipped. In this way, we reduce unnecessary post-consumer waste and conserve resources.

For us, sustainability is an ongoing process. We question existing solutions, constantly search for better alternatives, and develop our products step by step.
